John H. Sutter

John H. Sutter spent years briefing boards of directors, negotiating deals and writing corporate disclosures. Having been “inside,” he is now a dedicated advocate for the rights of shareholders in our securities practice. John’s prior corporate experience provides the firm with an invaluable resource in pursuing wrongdoing by boards of directors and executives alike.

Prior to joining the firm, John worked as both a corporate and litigation associate for two prominent Boston law firms. He also served as an assistant general counsel with Biogen, Inc.

In law school, he graduated summa cum laude, served on the Boston University Law Review and was a charter member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.

Experience

  • Currently, serves as a member of the litigation teams bringing bid-rigging/market-manipulation cases alleging that several major banks colluded to manipulate numerous financial benchmark rates, including Yen Libor and the EuroYen Tibor.
  • Served as lead associate on securities litigation against the Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. and their auditors Deloitte & Touche arising out of the company’s collapse, resulting in a final approved settlement of $294.9 million.
  • Drafted investigative memoranda and mediation statements in the Xerox litigation, which resulted in a substantial recovery for plaintiffs against both the company and its auditor, KPMG.
  • Participated in extensive document review and discovery preparation in the CalPERS v. Moody’s, Fannie Mae, Street Bank ERISA and the Nortel II litigations, each of which resulted in a substantial recovery for plaintiffs.
  • Drafted appellate briefs in the Centennial, Xerox and Smith & Wesson
  • Participated in extensive trial preparation for the SBLIC litigation, which resulted in recovery for the plaintiffs on the eve of trial.
