Berman Tabacco served as Co-Liaison Counsel representing plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against Shields Health Care Group, Inc. (“Shields”), a provider of healthcare services in the New England Region, including Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. The action alleged that on June 7, 2022, Shields announced a security incident had occurred between March 7, 2022 and March 21, 2022, which potentially exposed private and protected information of its patients, including patients’ names, dates of birth, home address, provider information, diagnosis, Social Security numbers, billing information, insurance number and information, medical record number, patient ID and other medical or treatment information.
On September 9, 2025 and September 11, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the Norfolk County Superior Court respectively granted final approval of a settlement pursuant to which Shields established a Settlement Fund of $15,350,000.00.
